Elene Weege - Biography
Elene Weege exchanged a medical business career for the artist’s life in the 1980s. She attended the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater, WI as a returning student, to study art and focused on oil painting. In 1998, she moved to Montana from the Midwest. With a deep admiration for the western landscape, she began artistic studies to paint impressionistic pastels of the Landscapes and Big Skies in Montana. Elene has now resumed oil painting and uses both pastels and oils to interpret the vistas of the West.
Elene is Secretary of the Montana Professional Artist Association and a member of the Oil Painters of America, the American Impressionist Society and the Pastel Society of the Northern Rockies. In 2005, she completed an intensive oil and pastel workshop with Ramon Kelley whose bravura techniques in pastel and oils have made him a well-known painter in the West. In 2006, Elene studied oils under Stephen Pan whose stunning command of light and color re-veals his extraordinary talent for expressionists oil paintings. Increasing her outdoor painting, Elene enjoyed a work-shop with Lorenzo Chavez in 2007. She returned from France in October 2008 after plein air painting in Provence and the Canal Du Midi area. She also studied plein air painting with Ned Mueller in 2009, near Jackson Hole, WY
