Louise grew up in the small town of Three Forks, Montana and fell in love with the rugged hills and mountains at an early age. She could wander for hours in the hills discovering the new wonders that were always developing at different times of the year. When she was 15 she got her first horse and that enabled her to go farther into the hills. She was always drawn to the wildlife and landscapes and - oh - the flowers, how these things excited her. There was no formal art education in her school so she did drawings and colored pencil on her own.

After marriage she moved to Conrad, MT for 12 years then Forsyth, MT for 15 years. When her daughter graduated from High School and moved away she began pursuing her love of art by driving to Billings, Montana to take instruction once a week first £rom Jeane Southworth, then Greg Wilhelmi and finally Tim Shinabarger.

She moved to Park City, MT in 1993 and was able to further her art education by taking workshops £rom various artists - pastelists - Sheila Reiman, Julie Oriet, Mary Ann Cherry and Richard McKinley. She has also taken oil painting workshops £rom Richard McDaniel, Joe Trakimas, Carol Guzman and Joyce Lee.

Her art has been in several shows including the 2002 "Horse of Course" and 2005 "Bighorn Magic" fundraisers for the restoration of the historic Billings Depot. She has been honored by the Cody Country Art League, Cody, WY winning 1st and 2nd place awards as well as the Cody Chamber of Commerce award in 2003 and Dr Christopher Lowther award in 2005. She has won several 1 st, 2nd and a couple 3rd place awards in the Montana Fair at Billings, MT and Rosebud County Fair in Forsyth, Montana.
