Tips For Photographing
Your Artwork by Bob Cherry
I am asked quite frequently how I get good photos of my oil paintings and pastels ...even after they have glass! My husband does that part for me. He has written an article for us to use and says, "feel free to make copies of this article for friends." This is a pdf file and should print well for anyone. If you have trouble opening it, download a new copy of Adobe Reader for free from Adobe.(click to download)
This article addresses both film and digital cameras as well as how to light your painting
in order to get a clear photo with no glare - even if already glazed. Bob is able to get a clear image with no glare on either oil paintings or glassed pastels using this technique.
If I need a slide of a digital image, I then send my digital file to Replicolor in Salt Lake City and within three days have a lovely slide with the image surrounded by black...perfect for show submissions still requiring slides.
