15-17, Red Rock Country
We
will visit Snow Canyon, Zion
and Grafton (Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid was
filmed there. We will study red rock formations, skies and some simple buildings
in the landscape. (FILLED)
May
21-25, Red Rock Country – Southern Utah
Paint
the varied and interesting rock formations, fields and clouds in this beautiful
and colorful area of Utah. We will visit Zion National Park
and areas near Kanab, including beautiful Barracks and Johnson’s Canyons (westerns
filmed in this area).
July
16-20, In the Footsteps of Edgar Payne, East Side of the Sierras, California
We
will be staying near Mammoth, north of Bishop. There are several canyons we can
drive up directly to majestic granite peaks with snow patches reflecting in the
lakes below. It’s hot in the desert, but cool in the mountains.
August
6-10 Southwestern Montana
– Big Sky Country
This
is the area where I grew up. We will go to ranch areas with horses, cows and sheep.
You will be painting meadows, some sagebrush, mountains and livestock. We will
also visit Montana’s first capitol, Bannack.
This ghost town is cared for, but has been left in original
condition. Very cool.
