ANNABEL
V. ALLEN
She paints both en plein air and from her own photos taken while traveling in Texas, New Mexico, France, Italy and while hiking in Idaho, where she resides during the summer months. Annabel holds both Bachelor and Master of Arts Degrees in French from the University of Illinois - Urbana. She has taught French at the U. of I. and both French and Latin at the high school level. She has studied oil painting in Idaho with Robert Moore and at the College of Southern Idaho. In New Mexico she studied with Master Pastelist Albert Handell. In Texas, her primary residence, she has often studied with Bob Rohm who has had a substantial impact on her works in pastel. Annabel is very active in the Brazos Valley Art League and has participated in many juried art shows in Texas. Her awards include three Best of Shows, and many first place ribbons from shows in Brenham, College Station, the Woodlands, Conroe, Sugarland and the Lone Star Art Guild. She is now represented in the Zantman Art Gallery in Sun Valley, Idaho; the Brenham Fine Arts Gallery in Brenham, Texas and, The Texas Art Gallery in College Station, Texas. Her paintings are also in private collections in Arizona, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky, New Jersey and Texas. Her work can also be viewed at her studios in College Station and Sun Valley. Annabel loves the challenge and excitement of each painting. She begins with a loose plan and very much enjoys taking advantage of accidents and watching the painting unfold and evolve. She uses artists' sandpaper as a base and proceeds with a pastel wash of complementary colors which adds to the vibrancy of her work. Although Annabel paints for her personal enjoyment, she considers it a bonus when others also enjoy her work. Studios: 4405
